Of 250 numbered copies, this is #26 as indicated on the colophon and it's signed by Wallace Stegner and illustrator Karin Wikstrom. Book shows no former owner or other marks, blemish-free pages, and clean boards. Comes with a large envelope containing prospectus as well as laid-in "thank you" card from the press. #2 in the California Writers of the Land Series.
A story of the Santa Lucias and the wild coast 15 miles below Monterey. The book is a large folio with 64 pages. 10.5 x 12." The pages were printed letterpress on mouldmade paper made by Cartiere Enrico Magnani in Pescia, Italy. Printmaker Wikstrom produced six blocks to illustrate the narrative. The prints were tipped by hand onto the pages. There were also a number of blocks produced for page illustrations. Bound in Dutch linen hand screened with a decorative design, the book is stunning.
Slipcase is excellent.
